Admirals Quay

Client: Allied Development
Contractor: Bouygues UK
Contract Value: Ongoing
Sector: Residential
Project Type: Maintenance

The landmark Admirals Quay development in Southampton has a Middle-Eastern based unitized cladding system which had some performance issues. Post handover challenges include UK compliance, glass replacement and leak repairs.

Facade Fix Proposal

The environmental and logistical considerations are paramount to these works which include glass replacement with roof top floor cranes and hoisting equipment to raise glass into position, cradles for access, and rope access by our operatives and special lifting equipment like a manipulator or heavy mobile crane. The work is extremely hazardous to carry out on a 26 storey building and required precision to ensure that the old and new glass units being positioned do not come into contact with the building. With exceptionally expensive access equipment, road closures and planning, a typical glass replacement might cost as much as £50,000 for a 2.8 x 1.4m structurally glazed panel 80m in the air.
