Opportunity

Tanner Street, is a 1990’s residential complex near London Bridge. The communal staircases were built in glass blocks which gave some privacy. They have very poor thermal properties so the staircase suffers from extreme temperature changes from Summer to Winter. They were also poorly installed and the mortar and reinforcement was crumbling and rusting. For several years the staircases have been unsafe and scaffolded to protect against falling glass.

Facade Fix Proposal

The client was looking for a like for like replacement but we proposed a modern thermal and acoustic 50mm stick system with a faceted installation that would create a more aesthetically pleasing structure, which could also perform better in temperature extremes, be more secure and also value engineered for cost. It would also add value to the building. We were appointed to provide design support throughout the planning stage and into the ever important construction phase which is now underway.
